Well Heck in high heels it's almost been a year. In order to validate keeping a blog I might as well fill it with some inane ponderings or something. Hmmmmmmmmm. Oh, how about this, I revisited some early 20s, high energy emotions last night while being captivated by the sonic landscape that is Big Blue Spruce. I love music. I love being pulled into a good melody that defines a good song. I also love the friends that I have made as a result of having great taste in music.

O.K so there's that... I am also enjoying my career as a graphic designer.

Oh, I think the most important discovery in my life during the past year has been in  finding a church home and having  made some great friends there. I'll induldge on that in a later post. Keep your eyes peeled.

The play opens tomorrow. I am happy with the way my background turned out. Looking forwad to seeing it tomorrow.

        I hate blogging. I do. I can never get off to a good start. I usually sit here, half start a thought, begin typing, then eventually give up as I let my left index finger repeatedly hit the back space.  I repeat that process a half dozen times. That is why you see the giant lapses in blog dates. I need to do this though. I feel obligated to my zillions of fans out there who eat cheese doodles and hit the refresh button every two minutes or so assuming that I am as attentive to their needs of daily updates as I should be. But I digress... or do I?

Psycho Beach Party - I will have pictures posted of the 8' x 30' backdrop soon. I am happy with it and I had a great time doing it. It was a huge challenge. Not only taming a wall of that size but also trying to negotiate my ego and style with the needs of a real play. I've been told it's very "Stary Nightish". I ended up using my hands to paint the majority. I am finding myself using brushes less and less in all my work. That's good because they are all dried up anyway. Check it out and have a fantastic time watching a nutty play at the same time. Oct. 2nd - 5th at the Allen's Lane Art Center in Chestnut Hill.

Other Stuff - I will post more info on a few exhibits that are coming up soon as some of the dates are still not written in stone. But look for my work at to be showing at The Station Cafe in Wayne, Burlap and Bean in Newtown Square, The Mt. Airy Art Exhibit in November and Taylor Hospital in Dec.

        I was asked by a good friend and talented theater director, Dave Ebersole, to consider painting an abstract backdrop for his production of "Psycho Beach Party". I will provide you with more details as details emerge, but I'm excited. This is a whole new forum in front of a whole new "captured" audience... and on a huge scale!

I lost a very dear friend a few days ago. I have been grieving and struggling with a new emptiness that makes no sense to me. I am still, as I am writing this, working it all out.
It's funny how death reinvigorates the senses. It IS funny. And I have laughed harder than I ever have recently, at the little things. I haven’t cried though. I feel guilty about that. Is that wrong? Should I constantly be consumed with some sort of blanketing sadness that should squeeze tears and belches of grief from my insides?
I have rolled so many emotions and thoughts around in my head. Nothing is sticking but there are fleeting moments of profundity. Everything has become stream of consciousness. It’s as if I have been sentenced to reconstruct the nature of my own emotional database. I have a new touchstone. A new place to reference how I will feel for the rest of my life.
At this point, every letter I type, every word of sympathy that is offered to me, no matter how standard and vanilla, has a new weight attached to it. I am experiencing experience through a new lens.
I loved him very much. I will never forget him. I thank God for him and for memory and for grief, for laughter, for pain, for meaning. This all has meaning. I will never be the same, I am grateful for that.
